CONSTRUCTIONS
These 3D constructions are built out of metal parts and other debris that I collect from alleys and streets.
The pieces sit on my tables for months, as I move the objects around, trying different relationships.
The element of play and the arranging of shapes are a respite from painting, and the interaction between the forms helps me set up rhythms in my paintings.
I think of them as sketches which inform my visual thinking.
I'm especially fond of crushed tailpipes.
